I am interested in the possibility or impossibility of seeing one’s self without drawing comparisons to others in this work. Disembarrassment is a flexible heptagonal structure that consists of seven mirror panels, each with a hole at face level for a participant’s face to fill. The seven in Disembarrassment are given the power to improvise a form, to interact with each other and to play with their amorphous reflections. As the participants move they lose the physical distance between others, disorientating the self in the flux mirror structure, and thus redefining the perception of the participants and of the group as a whole.
